Job Description
We are seeking a Data Architect to set the vision for our organization's use of customer data, through data design, to meet business needs. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing and profiling data sources, modeling data at destinations, defining system requirements, and implementing migration methods for existing data.
Hands-on experience with SQL and PL/SQL is essential, as we use Oracle and other storage systems. Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) and data visualization techniques using tools like Tableau is a plus. Experience with AWS and Python is also desirable.
The Data Architect will develop and maintain various data models representing entities of Abcam's business, store them effectively, securely, and ensure that data benefits stakeholders. This role is part of the Data Engineering team, partnering with corporate functions to provide high-quality, timely data to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Continuously improve current services and capabilities in Data & Analytics
- Work with the Data Engineering team to provide high-quality, timely data to stakeholders
- Identify and profile data sources with stakeholders, support data extraction and integration, contribute to the ELT process, create and maintain data mappings
- Model data at source and destination to support the Enterprise Data Model
- Support data transformations, work with stakeholders to define, maintain, and manage changes
- Cooperate with Data Governance to provide insights and enable data ownership
- Ensure data Security and Compliance, design access controls and rules for encrypted data
- Analyze structural requirements for new software and applications
- Support data migrations from legacy systems to new solutions
- Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements
- Optimize new and current database systems
- Define security and backup procedures
- Work with architecture to build a holistic picture of the Abcam enterprise environment
Qualifications
- Proven work experience as a Data Architect
- Good communication and organizational skills, stakeholder management
- In-depth understanding of database structure principles
- Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
- Expertise in SQL and Oracle
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
- Proven analytical skills
- Problem-solving attitude
- BSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field
