The Role: Depot Transport Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Depot Transport Manager to join our team in Carlisle. As a key member of the depot management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transport department.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective transport plans to meet operational demands, considering both routine and peak periods.
  • Manage all aspects of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Oversee driver performance, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and legal requirements (drivers' hours, tachograph analysis).
  • Control transport costs effectively while maintaining high service levels and quality standards.
  • Lead investigations into accidents or incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of the transport operation within the overall business strategy.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Full UK Driving License
  • Transport Manager CPC National Certificate
  • IOSH Qualification
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a Transport Management role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven knowledge of legal compliance, drivers' hours regulations, and Working Time Directive (WTD).
  • Experience with transport management systems and tachograph analysis software.
