Your Future Role

Based at our Wembley facility, you will become part of a skilled team of Maintenance and Technical Support Engineers (M&TSE), assisting Alstom's operational teams in providing technical and engineering assistance for the upkeep and operation of the Class 92 locomotive fleet. This fleet is primarily serviced and maintained at our Wembley and Polmadie Train Care Centres, supporting essential overnight services.

Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with a well-established cross-functional team. In this capacity, you will be responsible for delivering first-line engineering support for any maintenance or operational issues that may arise. Your daily responsibilities will include spearheading the maintenance development of the trains under your care, ensuring that maintenance activities align with contractual obligations while enhancing fleet reliability.

We expect you to:

  • Provide engineering expertise to support various projects
  • Work closely with Services Central Engineering to enhance our portfolio of products and services
  • Engage actively with colleagues across different fleets to share best practices and learn from each other
  • Ensure technical support for ongoing projects
  • Optimize the scope and tasks associated with the maintenance plan
  • Collaborate with colleagues from various departments to identify cost-reduction strategies
  • Identify, define, and implement modifications to improve train reliability and serviceability
  • Propose innovative solutions and integrate new technologies into maintenance projects
  • Analyze the technical performance of systems and the effectiveness of maintenance processes, promoting action plans for improvement
  • Suggest enhancements to maintenance plans
  • Investigate improvement opportunities in maintenance operations, performing engineering interface activities with operations
  • Conduct criticality studies and utilize Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) methodologies to optimize maintenance requirements
  • Analyze and incorporate operational data to enhance performance
  • Improve engineering tools and processes within the services domain

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum BTEC level 3 in Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Familiarity with rolling stock equipment

Desirable:

  • Understanding of rolling stock maintenance
  • Practical knowledge of safety management systems and risk assessments
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
