Support Worker Opportunity

We are seeking a Support Worker to provide assistance to our visually impaired staff member in carrying out their duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accompany the Senior Rehabilitation Officer on visits to service users' homes and meetings within the Wakefield Council District and other areas as necessary.
  • Support the Senior Rehabilitation Officer with administrative tasks in the office and accompany them to deliver rehabilitation services, such as assessing needs under the Care Act, low vision assessments, daily living skills, and orientation and mobility training.
  • Act as a sighted guide in unfamiliar indoor, outdoor, or cluttered environments as required.
Working Hours:
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday (hour lunch)
  • Friday (hour lunch)
Requirements:
  • This is a self-employed position, and the individual will be responsible for paying their own Income Tax, National Insurance, and pension contributions.
  • Experience of working with visually impaired people is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent IT skills and experience of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Qualifications in Maths and English Language (GCSE grade C or above or equivalent).
Desirable:
  • Hold a valid driving license and have access to a car with valid business insurance.

The hourly rate for this position is £12.65. An enhanced DBS check will be required.
