Job Title: MPC Engineer - Heavy Machinery Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MPC Engineer to join our team at SMT GB. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective, competent, and safe preparation and inspection of heavy construction machinery.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough pre-delivery inspections and local preparation of heavy construction machinery, including the fitting of necessary equipment and accessories.
  • Ensure all machinery is checked and verified against the Pre-Delivery Inspection and extras sheet.
  • Work efficiently and effectively to complete tasks within designated timeframes, highlighting any additional work required to the Supervisor.
  • Install software updates as new versions are released to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and systems documentation.
  • Provide comprehensive details of work undertaken in real-time using Personal Digital Assistance inputs.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and work area housekeeping.
  • Report any defects in company tooling, including laptops, specialist equipment, and lifting gear, and ensure use is in line with current test periods and instructions.
  • Develop and maintain a personal toolkit to enable effective job completion.
  • Operate within the guidelines of the Health & Safety at Work Act and adhere to all COSHH regulations.
  • Provide technical support and coaching to colleagues as needed.
  • Assist in the training and development of trainees, acting as a coach, mentor, and guide.
  • Be prepared to work overtime as required and attend relevant product or systems training courses to maintain high standards of competence.
  • Ensure the SMT GB premises are locked and secure upon exiting the building, in line with key holding responsibilities.
  • Work in accordance with SMT GB standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental care.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably requested by your manager.

Requirements:

  • Desirable: Hold a full driving license and good driving record.

  • Ability to drive and handle heavy construction machinery safely and efficiently.

  • Basic IT literacy, including ability to use email.
  • High standards and attention to detail.

Education / Professional Qualifications:

  • A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics (i.e. NVQ 2/C&G).
  • Relevant experience in the preparation and repair of heavy construction plant, including hydraulics and electrics or Plant and Equipment.
  • Desirable: Welding ability.
