Position: GCE A Level English Language Examiner

As a GCE English Language Examiner, you will evaluate candidates' responses in alignment with the established marking criteria, while ensuring compliance with examination protocols and recognition standards. The majority of assessments will be conducted online using ePEN, allowing for remote marking. However, certain subjects may still require traditional marking methods, utilizing paper scripts sent via postal services. A comprehensive understanding of the subject matter is essential for effectively applying the marking criteria. Each examiner will be assigned a specific number of scripts to evaluate.

We are also seeking applications from:

Lecturers: We welcome applications from qualified lecturers.

Newly Qualified Teachers: Applications from newly qualified educators are also encouraged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and consistently mark candidates' work to uphold quality standards.
  • Submit sample assessments to your Team Leader at designated intervals.
  • Adhere to marking timelines and milestones.
  • Complete all required administrative tasks as specified.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • A minimum of one academic year of teaching experience is required:
    • a. within the last eight years
    • b. in the relevant subject area
    • c. since obtaining teaching qualifications
  • A degree or equivalent qualification is necessary.
  • Must be a qualified educator.

Required Competencies:

  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Capability to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Possess a high level of subject expertise to apply the marking criteria accurately.

Additional Information:

  • The marking period typically spans from May to July.
  • Training for examiners will occur in the months preceding the marking period.
