Job Title: Learning Support Assistant - Special Education Needs

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at an independent special school in Pentyrch, Cardiff. The school provides education and support to 40 pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, including those who are non-verbal, have a hearing impairment, or rely on a wheelchair/hoist.

About the Role:
  • Support and supervise learners with complex needs in classroom environments, assisting with accessing the community and participating in activities to develop life skills.
  • Provide personal care where necessary.
  • Work with learners in small groups or one-to-one.
  • Work in accordance with the school's behaviour management policies.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 months' experience working with young people in schools or childcare settings.
  • Experience within an SEN setting is beneficial.
  • Comfortable supporting young people with personal care.
  • Basic Sign language or Makaton is an advantage.
