Job Title: Principal Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Specialist Structures Department team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design and analysis of complex steel structures for our submarine build projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the analysis and design of complex steel structures using Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards.
  • Develop and implement computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis, CAD modeling, and engineering schematics.
  • Support the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures, modules, and components.
  • Collaborate with design teams to produce concept drawings, layouts, and other technical outputs consistent with contractual requirements.
  • Ensure approvals, checking analysis, and outputs are completed to the highest standards.
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree (BEng/MEng) or equivalent experience in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status nearing CEng status.
  • Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
  • Familiarity with Eurocodes and British Standards.
  • Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and knowledge of lifting, handling, and LOLER.
  • Working knowledge of ABAQUS, S-Frame, MathCAD, and Excel.
