About the Role

Astute People is collaborating with a prominent Operations & Maintenance service provider, renowned for their expertise in the development, engineering, financing, construction, and maintenance of large-scale solar photovoltaic projects. They are currently seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to the design of solar and energy storage initiatives, guiding projects from the sales phase through to construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Civil and Structural Designs that adhere to industry standards and CDM regulations.
  • Assess civil works requirements for solar installations, including concrete foundations, piling programs, and internal road design.
  • Review existing studies and surveys, defining the scope based on project specifications, including flood risk assessments, load-bearing surveys, archaeological protection measures, geotechnical evaluations, topography, hydrology, and hydraulics.
  • Establish detailed scopes of work and specifications for subcontractors concerning civil engineering aspects.
  • Coordinate preliminary civil designs, such as cut and fill analysis, gravel roads, and drainage systems, tailored to the project type and location.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in the renewables sector or energy storage, whether in consultancy, Distribution Network Operator (DNO), Independent Connection Provider (ICP), or as a renewable energy developer.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of the interactions between developers, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors, and Technical Advisors (TA) in utility-scale photovoltaic project development.
