Role Overview: Companion for Aquatic Activities – Volunteer Position
Location: Surbiton
Time Commitment: Approximately 3 hours on Thursdays

We inspire individuals with disabilities to challenge their perceptions of life, their capabilities, and societal expectations.
As one of the oldest disability charities in the UK, registered as The Royal School for the Blind, SeeAbility has been at the forefront of specialized support for over 220 years.
Responsibilities
In the role of Companion for Aquatic Activities, you will engage with the individuals we support in the swimming pool, fostering enjoyment and encouraging participation in swimming and playful activities.
A Support Worker will always be present for guidance and will oversee the personal care of your companion, although they may remain on the poolside while you are in the water.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in swimming and comfort in water.
- Dependability and punctuality.
- A good sense of humor and enthusiasm.
- Kindness, empathy, and a friendly demeanor.
To ensure the safety of those we support, a DBS check and two satisfactory references are mandatory before confirming your volunteer role. Additionally, you will need to complete safeguarding training and any role-specific training.
