Job Summary:
Barnardo's is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to join our dynamic team at our Early Years Service in Gunthorpe. As a Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the ongoing development of our setting and achieving outstanding quality provision for the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and develop activities within the provision, plan programmes of activities for children and young people.
- Provide a duty management role to the service, offering information, advice and support with operational day-to-day running of the service.
- Ensure consistent use of policies, procedures and processes.
- Attend to the physical and emotional needs of children and young people, including health and safety aspects of equipment, environment and activities in consultation with Children's Services Manager.
- Establish fair, respectful, trusting, supportive and constructive relationships with parents and children, communicating sensitively and effectively.
- Screen and lead the referrals process.
- Lead in establishing and maintaining relationships with other agencies within Peterborough/Cambridgeshire to support children, young people and families.
- Contribute to the financial stability and sustainability of the Preschool, Out of School and holiday club by promoting and marketing the setting, arranging show rounds and visits and working together with parents to ensure continuity of service.

Requirements:
- Minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
- Experience in working with children in a childcare setting of ages 2-12 and their families.
- Experience working in a supervisory role.
- Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding and working with vulnerable children.
