About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, working closely with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of our services, including service redesign, quality improvement, and education.
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff, ensuring their development and well-being.
  • Participate in audit and research projects, contributing to the improvement of patient care and services.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in Psychiatry, with a CCT in Older Adult Psychiatry or equivalent.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval, or ability to obtain approval before starting post.
  • Excellent clinical skills, using a bio-psychosocial perspective and wider medical knowledge.
  • Ability to meet duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
