About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Security Operations Specialist to join our team at BlueVoyant. As a key member of our security operations team, you will play a critical role in helping our global customers manage their IT security and reduce the impact of security incidents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Analyze Security Events: Utilize security information and event management (SIEM) software, network and host-based intrusion detection systems, firewall logs, and system logs to identify potential security threats.
  • Separate True Threats from False Positives: Employ network and log analysis to determine the validity of security alerts and escalate potential intrusions and attacks.
  • Initiate Tickets and Document Incidents: Create and manage tickets to document and escalate security incidents to higher-level security analysts.
  • Serve as Technical Escalation Point and Mentor: Provide technical guidance and support to lower-level analysts and serve as a technical escalation point for complex security issues.
  • Communicate with Customer IT Teams: Regularly communicate with customer IT teams to inform them of security issues, provide guidance on remediation, and ensure business continuity.
  • Triage Incoming Issues: Assess the priority and risk of incoming security issues and determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Deploy Security Monitoring Systems: Work with customers to deploy hardware and software monitoring systems to enhance their security posture.
  • Stay Current with Threat Landscape: Maintain a strong awareness of the current threat landscape and stay up-to-date with emerging security threats and trends.
Requirements
  • Excellent Teamwork Skills: Possess excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, globally distributed team environment.
  • Knowledge of Security Tools: Have strong knowledge and experience with intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM software, and network protocols and devices.
  • Strong Technical Skills: Possess strong technical skills, including experience with Mac OS, Windows, and Unix systems, and the ability to provide tuning recommendations for security tools.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present complex technical topics in clear and concise language.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Possess a minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on SOC/TOC/NOC experience and hold relevant certifications, such as GCIA, GCIH, or CISSP.
