The Burford Recruitment Company is seeking a skilled and passionate Private Estate Gardener to join our client's team. As a key member of the estate staff, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the beauty of the stunning country estate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regularly inspect and maintain the formal gardens, ensuring they are well-manicured and healthy.
- Select and plant seasonal flowers, trees, and shrubs, and implement effective care and maintenance techniques.
- Efficiently manage irrigation systems to optimize water usage and minimize waste.
- Implement eco-friendly methods to manage pests and diseases, minimizing the use of chemicals.
- Prune trees and shrubs as needed to maintain shape, health, and aesthetic appeal.
- Monitor soil conditions and implement appropriate fertilization and soil improvement techniques.
- Conduct seasonal cleanup activities, including leaf removal, mulching, and preparing the garden for winter.
- Oversee greenhouse operations, including propagation, temperature control, and maintenance of plants.
- Plant, maintain, and harvest fruits, vegetables, and herbs in the kitchen garden to provide fresh produce for the household.
- Collaborate with other estate staff and contractors to coordinate activities and maintain overall estate aesthetics.
Requirements:
- A passion for horticulture and excellent attention to detail.
- Hands-on experience and physical fitness to work in all weather conditions.
- A Horticultural Qualification, Spray Certificates PA1/PA6, and a Chainsaw Certificate are desirable but not essential.
- Own transport is required due to the rural location.
