About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pharmacy Stores Assistant to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As a Pharmacy Stores Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the technical staff in our stores area, ensuring the efficient running of the department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Liaise with other Assistants to provide support to technical staff, maintaining the efficient running of the Pharmacy and other Departments and wards of the Hospital.
  • Undertake the receipt, storage, and distribution of various medications and medical devices.
  • Dispense routine prescriptions and process requisitions from departments and wards.
  • Answer telephone calls and perform receptionist duties within the department.
  • Receive, check, computerize, and store medicines upon delivery from suppliers.
  • Return unused, issued medicines to stock for subsequent re-issue.
  • Undertake distribution duties to departments and wards as necessary.
  • Use and maintain robot software and hardware in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Check pharmacy stock to ensure suitability of medicines for issue.
  • Maintain the department in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Undertake 'top-up' of BOC Gases.
  • Be involved with general ordering and ordering-related queries.
  • Gain an understanding of the automated dispensing Robot.
  • Maintain stock rotation.
  • Routine medication expiry checks.
  • Assist in the delivery and distribution of IV fluids.

Requirements

  • Understanding of confidentiality and its importance in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous work experience in a hospital and/or a pharmacy (desirable).
  • Experience using CMM and ARIM software (desirable).
  • Manual handling experience (desirable).
  • Computer literate.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs at passing grade (or equivalent).
  • Willingness to work towards procurement and dispensary qualifications if not already attained.
