Job Summary:
EC&I Partners is seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Engineering Specialist to join our innovative Asset Support and Outage Excellence team.
This position provides the chance to engage with a diverse array of established and advanced power generation technologies, including state-of-the-art power stations and storage facilities across the UK.
As a vital member of our team, you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge on a grand scale while supporting our clients' assets throughout the UK.
Due to the nationwide outage nature of this role, you will be expected to travel away from home for various outages throughout the year.
We are in search of a Senior Electrical Engineering Specialist who exhibits a flexible and enthusiastic approach, is highly self-driven, conscientious, and can demonstrate ownership of challenges through to the implementation of effective solutions.
You should possess the capability to showcase and develop extensive knowledge and skills in a variety of complex and non-routine electrical engineering and maintenance activities, maximizing resource utilization and ensuring power plant availability.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven experience in power generation or equivalent electrical engineering, including generators, motors, transformers, switchgear, and high voltage distribution systems. Maintenance and risk management experience is crucial.
- A solid understanding of power plant operations, along with knowledge of current regulations and policies affecting the management and operation of power generation assets.
- Contract management skills to effectively challenge contractors regarding methods, quality, and standards of work.- Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships within the team, across functions, and with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills, including effective prioritization and resource management.
- A good working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards, equivalent to NEBOSH.
- Educated to Higher National Diploma or Degree level in an Engineering discipline, supported by sound technical knowledge of engineering and maintenance practices gained through experience.
- Broad knowledge and experience of maintenance activities across multiple engineering disciplines.- Ability to appropriately challenge to ensure projects are well-defined and agreed upon to optimize business value.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Contract and project management skills to oversee multiple contracts within a project, addressing health, safety, environmental, commercial, and technical issues.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with best practice lean tools for resolving engineering issues to root cause level.
- APMP or Prince 2 project management qualification.
- Knowledge and competence in using SAP-based systems.
- Experience in a fast-paced work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will report to a Team Leader, ensuring that work targets and objectives are met satisfactorily and that all work aligns with key performance indicators (safety, time, cost, quality, technical performance, and compliance).
Responsibilities include delivering projects and outages, collaborating closely with Asset Operations, Asset Management, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure process compliance, CDM compliance, and the highest standards of health, safety, security, and environmental quality performance.
Specific Duties Include:
- Manage the delivery of projects and outages as defined by stakeholders, in accordance with contract, procurement, and project management processes.
- Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders to facilitate communication and collaborative working.
- Deliver project charters that clearly define objectives, expectations, and communication plans.
- Develop technical and contract specifications to facilitate procurement tendering processes.
- Manage health, safety, security, and environmental aspects of asset projects to stakeholder standards.
- Ensure contractor quality assurance and quality control are established and delivered.
- Technical design and delivery of low to high-risk technical improvement projects.
- Review and develop operation and maintenance packages, including critical spares, to ensure a comprehensive handover to stakeholders.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management and quality assurance systems through job plan improvements and failure reporting utilizing corrective action systems.
- Manage and contribute to improving safety performance, including regular audits of the work control management process.- Ensure the delivery of maintenance and warranty within required timescales determined by risk, in line with contract management and work planning and scheduling processes.
- Support the development of Asset Support UK, UK Power Plant staff, and broader Asset Management initiatives.- Ensure the latest developments in industry best practices regarding health, safety, security, and quality management are implemented and maintained, with routine reviews for effectiveness.
- Ensure appropriate monitoring is implemented and maintained during works.- Collaborate with financial controlling to maintain accurate, live project cost data.
- Trained and competent in safety assessments by producing necessary documents such as risk assessments, method statements, and hot work assessments.
Demonstrate a proactive approach by identifying practical and effective means of improving technical, commercial, or procedural aspects related to the role.
