Position Overview: Our client, a prominent player in the aerospace industry, is in search of a Manufacturing Engineer to become a vital member of their Composites Division, working on a permanent night shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the manufacturing process to ensure adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage performance metrics against established objectives, taking responsibility for quality assurance, timely delivery, and budget management.
  • Facilitate various aspects of manufacturing engineering, including process design, tooling development, and the application of lean methodologies.
  • Create internal engineering documentation to support manufacturing operations while controlling costs and maintaining quality within the engineering team.
  • Assist in New Technology Initiatives (NTI) and oversee equipment upgrades from acquisition through to commissioning.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives from a Design for Manufacture (DFM) perspective, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Ensure that all processes comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and contribute to EHS project leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate product quality challenges arising from process variations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production-related issues.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to enhance process capability, quality, and throughput.
  • Lead and facilitate training sessions within the manufacturing environment.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage project planning to align with customer requirements.
  • Engage in and lead local and site-wide initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or HNC in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coaching and team engagement.
  • In-depth knowledge of composite manufacturing techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Experience with laser projection technology for composite manufacturing.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to engage with customers or suppliers.
  • Flexibility to work shifts as required.
