GIS Analyst Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and deliver GIS figures and data visualizations.
  • Gather, compile, migrate, and convert data sets for project needs from various internal and external sources.
  • Evaluate data from multiple sources to determine quality and ensure data is clean and accurate.
  • Champion GIS solutions for the local office, including data collection and delivery.
  • Create, publish, and maintain web-based applications and feature services on ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Set up Field Map and Survey123 applications for team member site visits.
  • Provide technical support for spatial software solutions for internal and external clients.
  • Explain technical concepts to others, including more junior colleagues and clients.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations and present information to internal and external groups.
  • Provide updates to project managers/directors on task progress in line with programs.
  • Manage the production of analysis and associated outputs, ensuring timely delivery and high standards.
  • Provide direction and technical advice to junior project team members, developing their skills and potential.
  • Support others in leading project delivery or acting as subject area lead within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support others in maintaining client contact and ensuring project delivery meets client objectives and requirements.
  • Ensure technical content is correct and completed within agreed timescales, budgets, and standards.
  • Undertake project delivery tasks, including calculations, drawings, sketches, and reports.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and training to colleagues, and assist in mentoring and development of others.
  • Work closely with colleagues from other subject areas.
Requirements:
  • A suitable degree or higher (or studying towards) in Geographical Information Systems with 2-5 years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Esri GIS desktop software ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro 3.0.2.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online and/or Portal environment.
  • Experience in data conversion, database management, and GIS digitization and analysis.
  • Experience in AutoCAD.
  • An understanding of coordinate systems and their application in ArcGIS.
  • Capability to produce high-quality cartographic products.
  • Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated while working independently.
  • Project a professional image to clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Proactive in identifying improvements and quality of workflows.
