About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Area Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at ASC Connections Ltd. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of automotive components, working closely with Specialists and Chief Engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of a package of automotive components, ensuring they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor, coach, and support the development of direct reports, including performance management and goal setting.
  • Project Management: Work on design projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the entire supply chain to ensure effective team working and maximize efficiency.
  • Risk Management: Identify and escalate concerns, issues, and risks up through the reporting chain.
Requirements
  • Education: MEng or BEng Degree in an Engineering related subject.
  • Experience: Proven experience of team leadership and technical expertise in design engineering.
  • Skills: Excellent technical judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to communicate concisely to all stakeholders.
  • CAD Experience: Experience with a 3D CAD package, ideally Creo, and full training will be given on Creo if you haven't currently got experience in this.
  • Commercial Awareness: Good commercial awareness and ability to think ahead regarding design with a growth mindset.
