About the Role

We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our team at Matt Burton, a leading provider of commercial vehicle fleet management services. As an HGV Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clients' fleets, performing a range of tasks including inspections, maintenance, repairs, and servicing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Inspections and Maintenance: Conduct thorough inspections of HGVs to identify any issues or defects, and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure vehicles are in good working condition.
  • Repair and Servicing: Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic issues, as well as overhaul electrical components and equipment.
  • Welding and Metalworking: Perform welding and metalworking tasks as required, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards.
  • Equipment Operation: Utilize advanced machine tools and equipment to perform tasks such as MOT testing and parts ordering.
  • Team Support: Mentor and support Apprentice Technicians, ensuring they receive the training and guidance they need to succeed.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work performed, including job records and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance or equivalent.
  • Skills: Strong customer service skills, excellent communication skills, ability to work efficiently under deadlines, self-motivated with a strong drive to excel.
  • Experience: Prior fleet management experience is advantageous, but not essential.
