Unqualified Teacher / Assistant Teacher - Basingstoke

Academics is recruiting on behalf of an exceptional Secondary School in Basingstoke seeking a dedicated and passionate Unqualified Teacher to join their team on a full-time, permanent contract.

About the Role

This is a full-time contract, 32.5 hours per week/39 weeks per annum, with a salary ranging from £26,421 - £28,770. The school provides placements for students from across Hampshire and West Berkshire, catering to secondary-aged boys and girls who face challenges with social interactions, positive relationships, and emotional regulation.

Many of their students have a diagnosis or identified traits of an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). As an Unqualified Teacher, you will cover/supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, work with withdrawal and small groups to provide support and intervention, lead a team of Assistant Teachers as required, and collaborate with teaching staff to assist in the planning cycle and resource management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support for pupils and teachers to raise standards of achievement for all pupils, including those with SEN, EAL, GT, FSM, and underachievers.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge and skills to assist with planning, monitoring, assessing, and managing classes.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Support the teacher in managing resources and preparing materials for lessons.
