Clinical Academic Leader in Cancer Research

Midlothian, United Kingdom The University of Edinburgh Full time
Opportunity Overview

The University of Edinburgh is seeking highly ambitious individuals to join our TRACC Programme, a prestigious clinical academic leadership development initiative in cancer-focused disciplines.

As a TRACC Clinical Lecturer, you will embark on a 3-year Clinical Research Training Fellowship, leading to a PhD in one of our internationally competitive research centres. This unique opportunity combines clinical training with protected research time, allowing you to develop your skills and expertise in cancer research.

Upon completion of your PhD, you will continue as a TRACC Clinical Lecturer, completing clinical training in your chosen specialty while maintaining 20% protected research time. This period will be up until the date of CCT (plus 6 months period of grace if appropriate).

Your Skills and Attributes

To be successful in this role, you must hold a UK National Training Number (NTN) or be appointed to a specialty training position with a UK NTN in your chosen discipline by 6th August 2025. You must also have full GMC registration.

We welcome applications from eligible candidates irrespective of gender or ethnic group and will adapt the programme for successful candidates who wish to work less than full time.

Programme Details

The TRACC Programme is jointly run by the University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh, with research posts integrated between the two Universities and the wider cancer research ecosystems in both cities.

Candidates should apply through the University of Edinburgh system, but this application route will not influence the University or Research Centre where the research will be undertaken.

We aim to be an inclusive programme and welcome applications from eligible candidates who meet the programme's requirements.
