About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Technician to provide technical support and expertise for projects within the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (SoGEES). The successful candidate will have significant work experience within a data analysis environment and be able to demonstrate an ability to support and assist staff and students in the application of data science techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and expertise for projects within SoGEES
  • Support and assist staff and students in the application of data science techniques
  • Liaise with academic and technical staff to understand existing methods of data collection and suggest innovative data science solutions
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience in at least two of the following: Python, Javascript, R, MatLab, and/or Google Earth engine. Desirable criteria include the ability to take a proactive role in liaising with academic and technical staff, experience in large language model prompt engineering, development of digital simulations incorporating real-time sensor data, and big data analysis.
