Your Role:

We are excited to announce an opening in our Research, Technology, and Innovation division. As we expand rapidly, we seek to incorporate AI/ML Research Engineers into our team. You will play a pivotal role within the AI/ML research team, engaging in various activities such as:

  • Conducting fundamental feasibility studies and state-of-the-art surveys.
  • Creating proof of concept demonstrators utilizing suitable software and hardware.
  • Collaborating within a research team to innovate and explore new concepts and technologies, demonstrating their relevance to Thales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead small teams to accelerate core AI/ML research, particularly in deep learning.
  • Develop cutting-edge AI/ML solutions to address business challenges.
  • Coordinate with other research teams, including AI V&V and Human-Machine Teaming.
  • Enhance the capabilities and personnel of the AI/ML research team.
  • Investigate and develop new technologies and concepts in line with the Thales corporate technical strategy.
  • Define and execute our research and development strategy in AI & ML.
  • Deliver work according to established milestones and deadlines.

About You:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in a relevant AI/ML research or advanced development role.
  • Honours degree (minimum 2.1), Master’s degree, or PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Proven track record in delivering AI/ML research.
  • In-depth knowledge of AI/ML research, especially deep learning techniques.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python with a strong understanding of PyTorch (TensorFlow experience is acceptable but a willingness to learn PyTorch is necessary).
  • Aptitude for understanding complex new data and adapting existing technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying intricate concepts effectively.
  • Familiarity with standard office tools, particularly Microsoft applications.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in deploying deep learning solutions into production.
  • Knowledge of C++, Matlab, or Java.
  • Experience with deep learning on edge devices, GPUs, and FPGAs.
  • Domain expertise in imagery, acoustic, and time-series datasets.

Security Clearance:

This position requires SC Clearance. If not currently held, the successful candidate must undergo the process to achieve and maintain this clearance.
