Key Responsibilities:
As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Providing test support engineering to ensure product reliability.
- Managing specialized test equipment: drafting test protocols, sourcing components, and fabricating or rewiring equipment as necessary.
- Conducting assembly and testing of complex military communication systems.
- Calibrating and maintaining test rigs, fixtures, and associated systems.
- Implementing new testing software and verifying compliance with standards.
- Training production test staff on operational principles of products.
- Diagnosing complex testing issues and collaborating with project engineers on design challenges.
- Developing and validating test rigs and associated automatic testing equipment.
- Ensuring compliance with COSHH regulations regarding chemical substances.
- Maintaining operational terminals to minimize downtime.
- Documenting and repairing military airborne radios, maintaining precise records of all repairs.
- Providing assistance to colleagues within the department as required.
Special Test Equipment:
Prepare schematics, design, procure components, and prototype wiring for testing equipment and fixtures used in production testing.
Test Procedures:
Draft production test procedures based on engineering specifications to ensure comprehensive testing of products.
Assembly:
Engage in the assembly, testing, and repair of sophisticated military communication assemblies.
Administrative Duties:
Support cost reduction initiatives and maintain records to identify testing issues.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant technician experience.
- A thorough understanding of electronic products, complemented by some mechanical knowledge.
- Proficiency in PC operating systems (NT4, Win2K, XP), Networking (TCP/IP), and ATE software control (TestSan, LabView, GRIP, Visual Basic, SQL).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot ATE code.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- An HNC or equivalent, along with two or more years of formal technical training.
Responsibilities:
As a Test Engineer, you will hold accountability for:
- Ensuring that test procedures are accurately written and adhered to for product assembly and testing.
- Maintaining calibration and reliability of test equipment.
- Managing procurement of necessary components for building specialized test equipment and fixtures, with supervisor approval.
