Research Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Officer to join our team at The Lines Between. As a Research Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of qualitative research and analysis for our growing portfolio of client accounts.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the recruitment of research participants
- Gather and review documents for evidence reviews
- Assist with the development of research tools, such as surveys and discussion guides
- Support the delivery of focus groups
- Support transcription processes
- Support the recording and analysis of new business opportunities
- Data coding and analysis
- Produce draft sections of reports, presentations, and case studies to a high standard, including proofreading
- At least two years' work-based research or consultancy experience, ideally in social research
- Excellent social skills and experience of engaging diverse participants in research
- Experience of supporting delivery across a range of research projects
- Excellent writing and editing skills, including an ability to communicate complex issues and ideas in an accessible and engaging way
- Excellent planning and time-management skills
- Critical reading, review, and analysis skills, honed through experience of working with a range of qualitative data
- Pro-active and flexible approach to task delivery
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with an ability to contribute effectively and constructively within a team
- Strong attention to detail and logical approach to information gathering and analysis
- Capacity to work across multiple projects with different deadlines
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to deliver on time and within budget
- A full driving license and access to a car
The Lines Between is a research consultancy that delivers objective, robust research that informs, engages, and influences a wide range of service providers, funders, stakeholders, and communities. We provide consultation analysis, evaluations, primary research, surveys, case studies, and evidence reviews, using a range of traditional and innovative approaches.
Our projects range in size and scale, from big-budget longitudinal studies to small commissions with short deadlines. We work with a variety of clients, including the Scottish Government, Public Health Scotland, SCVO, Samaritans Scotland, National Trust for Scotland, Children 1st, Citizens Advice Scotland, and Fun Palaces.
We are committed to sustainability and offer high-quality, affordable services while investing in our staff, tools, and client relationships. We offer an annual training budget of £1k, a salary of £25k-£29k depending on experience, 33 days paid annual holiday, a 7% employer contribution, access to quarterly independent clinical supervision sessions, flexible working arrangements, and a positive team culture with quarterly social events.
