Main Responsibilities

The Student Retention Officer will play a crucial role in supporting students in their educational journey. Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with individual students who have been reported as being dis-engaged to help them return to productive study.
  • Ensuring all assigned students are contacted and gaining an understanding of the barriers to study they are encountering.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records.
  • Developing bespoke plans to ensure each student returns to study, in collaboration with relevant academics.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure students remain engaged with their studies.
  • Operating within professional frameworks and guidelines when dealing with non-attending students.
  • Assisting with the administration of surveys and collecting results for analysis.
  • Supporting Registry with induction and enrolment processes as required.
  • Ensuring an adequate presence for all partnerships at all campuses.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree-level education or equivalent, with knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
  • Previous experience working with students in higher education, specifically with mature students.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages for a diverse audience.
  • Effective planning and prioritization skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • High-level computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
