Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Care Worker to become a vital part of Southern Housing, working collaboratively to deliver tailored care and assistance to individuals utilizing our services, in accordance with established care plans.
As a Care and Support Worker, your responsibilities will include working with a diverse group of individuals, including the elderly, those with learning disabilities and autism, individuals facing mental health challenges, and those with complex care needs.
This role encompasses providing services in various settings, including supported housing and community-based services.
Flexibility is essential, as you will be required to cover shifts during evenings and weekends to meet service demands. Physical capability for moving and handling tasks is necessary, and you must possess a vehicle with appropriate insurance for business use. An enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check will be conducted.
In some cases, you may be required to undertake sleep-in duties and participate in an on-call rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized care to residents as outlined in their individual care plans, which may include intimate personal care.
- Provide care that fosters independence, respects rights, and encourages community inclusion.
- Respond promptly to emergencies by summoning professional assistance as needed.
- Adhere to Care Quality Commission standards, ensuring that residents have current care plans and risk assessments that reflect their unique needs and preferences.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent), including Mathematics and English.
- Strong literacy and numeracy abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Awareness of health and safety practices.
- A collaborative team player.
- Understanding of CQC requirements.
- Eagerness to acquire new skills.
