About Our Lockerbie Facility

  • A well-equipped, highly automated facility currently undergoing a significant investment of approximately £35 million for enhancements and upgrades.
  • Ongoing projects at our Anaerobic Digestion plant, which upon completion will be the largest of its kind in Europe.

Role Overview
This position offers a unique opportunity to work at Arla Foods' Lockerbie facility, focusing on our Anaerobic Digestion operations. As a Mechanical & Electrical Technician, your responsibilities will include performing routine maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems to avert malfunctions. Key tasks include:

  • Inspecting and servicing pumps, valves, feed systems, and other mechanical components
  • Troubleshooting and repairing issues within the digestion system and related equipment
  • Monitoring the anaerobic digestion process performance using control systems
  • Adjusting controls to manage flow rates, temperatures, and mixing to optimize the digestion process, as well as collecting and analyzing data on biogas production, quality, and composition

Qualifications for Success

  • Strong ambition and drive
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical engineering within manufacturing, production, and process environments; experience with effluent treatment plants (ETP) or Anaerobic Digestion plants (AD) is highly desirable.
  • Apprentice-trained with NVQ or CITB Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline preferred
  • Experience with fast-moving machinery including pumps, valves, feed systems, heat exchangers, and digesters is advantageous.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as SAP, Microsoft Office, SCADA, Trend systems, and HMIS
  • Time-served as a Multi-Skilled Engineer in a manufacturing setting.
