KG192758 - Nursing Position in Specialized Care

Aberdeen, Aberdeen City, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

Position Overview:

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Staff Nurse to become a vital part of the Eden Unit.

We are in search of a dedicated professional to assist the existing nursing and multidisciplinary team in all facets of this specialized Eating Disorders Unit.

While prior experience with patients suffering from eating disorders is beneficial, it is not a prerequisite. Comprehensive induction training will be provided, along with the chance to pursue additional qualifications if desired.

Role Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be required to work on a rotational shift basis, covering both day and night duties. We encourage applications from both Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs).

About the Eden Unit:

The Eden Unit serves as the Regional Inpatient Eating Disorder Service for the North East of Scotland, catering to regions including Tayside, Grampian, Highland, and Islands, as well as out-of-area patients. The unit also features a transitional placement in a Day Programme aimed at preventing hospital admissions or facilitating earlier discharges.

We maintain strong collaborative relationships with NHS Grampian, Highland and Tayside Outpatient Eating Disorders Services, the Gastroenterology Team, CAMHS, and the young person's Inpatient Service.

While our patients primarily face challenges related to eating disorders, they may also experience co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, autism, depression, OCD, personality disorders, and diabetes.

Therapeutic Approaches:

One of the core treatment methodologies within the Eden Unit is the provision of evidence-based therapies. Our ward offers:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Family-Based Therapy
  • Interpersonal Psychological Therapy
  • Contemplation Work
  • Art Therapy
  • Decider Skills
  • Mentalisation-Based Therapy
  • Distress Tolerance Therapies
  • Cognitive Remedial Therapy

Additionally, there will be opportunities to undertake the EEATS Accredited Course.

During their stay, patients are encouraged to engage in formulation, allowing them and the wider multidisciplinary team to reflect on their journey and collaboratively develop a forward-looking plan.

Relocation Assistance:

An attractive relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available for successful candidates.

Diversity Commitment:

NHS Scotland is dedicated to promoting equality and diversity within our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. Our goal is to ensure that our workforce is genuinely representative and that every employee feels respected and empowered to perform at their best. Therefore, we welcome applications from all sectors of society.

Application Process:

To apply for this position, please complete the application process on Jobtrain. Note that CVs will not be accepted for shortlisting purposes. Ensure that your email address is entered accurately, as our correspondence will be conducted via email.

Additional Information:

Please be aware that some vacancies may be exclusive to internal candidates. If you are currently employed by NHS Grampian, ensure your Jobtrain profile is updated accordingly.

Environmental Considerations:

If this position operates within the Aberdeen City Low Emission Zone, you will be responsible for all associated costs.

NHS Grampian is one of the fourteen regional health boards of NHS Scotland, tasked with delivering health and social care services to a population exceeding 500,000 individuals across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and Moray.

As a board, we are committed to fostering an environment that nurtures a positive culture, supported by our NHS and Social Care values.
