An exceptional opportunity exists for a Senior MEP Cost Manager to become a vital part of our dynamic Real Estate division. This role will be based in our Manchester office, where you will collaborate with a diverse range of clients, including Developers, Occupiers, Government entities, and sectors such as Health, Education, and Technology, to successfully execute complex projects and demanding programs.
Role Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) specific deliverables, either as part of a larger initiative or as the lead on direct MEP assignments, including asset enhancement projects.
The ideal candidate will be self-driven and adept at client engagement, managing multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously. Key tasks will include:
- Establishing preliminary budgets and conducting early estimates.
- Cost planning and managing design teams to adhere to budget constraints.
- Overseeing tendering and procurement processes, both single and two-stage.
- Providing post-contract reporting to clients.
- Ensuring a comprehensive understanding of MEP systems and collaborating effectively with main contractors and their MEP supply chains.
Key Accountabilities:
- Managing commissions, whether as part of a larger project or as a standalone MEP commission.
- Assisting in feasibility studies and preparing procurement documentation.
- Producing and presenting final cost plans to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Handling post-contract cost discrepancies and managing change control processes.
- Conducting timely and accurate cost checks and valuations on larger projects.
- Generating monthly post-contract cost reports for client presentations.
- Contributing to value engineering initiatives.
- Negotiating and finalizing accounts.
- Engaging with clients and other consultants throughout all project phases.
- Leading a cost management team, ensuring delivery on all outlined responsibilities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A proven history of delivering high-quality cost management and quantity surveying services throughout the project lifecycle.
- Professional qualification (RICS or equivalent) or in progress.
- Degree or HNC level education.
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience in delivering MEP components for clients.
- Established knowledge and connections within the MEP supply chain.
- Proficiency in utilizing digital tools for cost management services.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation capabilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and effective communication, both with clients and within teams.
