Job Title: Design Office Manager

We are seeking an experienced Design Office Manager to lead our design team and drive innovation and excellence within the drawing office.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the drawing office, managing and mentoring the team, and ensuring that all design work meets the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the drawing office team to ensure they are motivated and equipped to meet both company and customer expectations.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure that all designs comply with relevant industry standards.
  • Oversee the design and development of new products and the enhancement of existing ones, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, customers, and suppliers to deliver engineered solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the drawing office and contributing to business planning and the implementation of company strategies.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Engineering or a related field (HND/HNC candidates with substantial experience will also be considered).
  • Proven experience in managing a drawing or design office, ideally within an engineering or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and a deep understanding of engineering standards and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
What We Offer:
  • A competitive salary of £57,600.00 per annum.
  • Flexible working hours - Monday to Friday.
  • Minimum 35 hours per week.
  • Optional healthcare.
  • 34 days holiday a year, plus 23 floating days.
  • Pension contribution of 7% when employee contributes 2.5%.
