About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at an Alternative Provision School in Littlehampton, West Sussex. The successful candidate will work closely with our teachers and support staff to provide high-quality education and care to our students with SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the individual needs of students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Support the emotional and social development of students, using positive behaviour management strategies to promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help with the preparation of classroom materials and resources.
  • Supervise students during break times and other activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and other support strategies.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to student reports.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
