Overview

As a pivotal member of our team, you will spearhead the external development and execution of a diverse range of enhancement projects, ensuring their successful delivery. Your role will involve fostering and nurturing relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

1. Relationship Management

Act as the primary liaison for designated clients and stakeholders, ensuring that their needs are met and that Network Rail is responsive to the development of projects. Advocate for the interests of clients within the organization.

2. Proposal Development

Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to formulate proposals for enhancements, clearly defining the scope and nature of their projects in alignment with business planning criteria, while assessing their feasibility within the planning framework.

3. Negotiation Leadership

Lead discussions with clients regarding the commercial and contractual aspects of project implementation, or the terms under which Network Rail will ensure asset protection during client-led initiatives.

4. Project Delivery Oversight

Oversee the execution or facilitation of externally funded projects by Infrastructure Investment, ensuring that client and stakeholder expectations are met in terms of scope, budget, quality, and timeline.

5. Compliance Assurance

Ensure adherence to corporate investment regulations and governance standards, including the Guide to Railway Investment Projects.

6. Progress Monitoring

Track the advancement of client projects against established budgets and timelines, proactively addressing any issues with Infrastructure Investment to rectify negative trends.

7. Post-Implementation Review

Conduct evaluations following project completion to ensure clients are billed accurately, confirm that project outcomes align with expectations, and integrate new works into maintenance and renewal strategies.

8. Strategic Contribution

Play a key role in shaping the Route's enhancement strategy through participation in the Route Utilisation Strategy process and other planning initiatives.

9. Opportunity Identification

Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to uncover new investment opportunities within the network.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

- Degree-level qualification

- Strong commercial acumen, persuasive communication, and client-focused approach

- Proficient negotiation skills

- Understanding of the railway sector

- Proven experience managing industrial client portfolios and successfully negotiating contracts

Desirable:

- Experience in management roles within a commercial setting

- MBA or related postgraduate qualification
