We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Drug and Alcohol Recovery Practitioner to join our Bedfordshire Young People's Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 5-18 who are struggling with drug and alcohol issues.

About the Role:

As a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing information and advice, brief interventions, and long-term structured interventions to support young people who are using drugs and alcohol or being impacted by someone else's use. You will conduct assessments, risk assessments, care-planning, and work directly with other services such as schools, social care, mental health services, and youth offending.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide information and advice to young people and their families on drug and alcohol related issues
  • Conduct assessments and risk assessments to identify the needs of young people
  • Develop and implement care plans to support young people in their recovery journey
  • Work collaboratively with other services to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting young people
  • Provide brief interventions and long-term structured interventions to support young people
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we will consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field. You will also need to have good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, be able to liaise with voluntary and statutory agencies, and be comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings.
