About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Kirkby Community Mental Health Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to adults with psychosis and other severe mental illnesses.

The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills, a strong understanding of bio-psycho-social perspectives, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to lead and develop excellent practice in the field, contribute to clinical and medical leadership, and participate in clinical research and service evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive risk assessments and participate in Trust's risk management processes
  • Act as team responsible clinician for the purposes of the Mental Health Act 1983
  • Supervise and support team members who carry out assessments of patients referred to the team
  • Foster relationships between staff within each organisation
  • Work flexibly and cooperatively with other parts of the service, including inpatient units, other community mental health teams, specialist services, and primary care
Person Specification
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
  • Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 or ability to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice
