About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Exeter. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through outdoor activities and sports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Children with SEN in Outdoor Activities: Provide individualized support to children with SEN in outdoor activities, including sports, adventure games, and physical education.
  • Plan and Lead Outdoor Sessions: Plan, lead, and supervise a variety of outdoor sessions tailored to the needs and abilities of each student.
  • Encourage Physical Activity and Social Skills: Encourage physical activity, teamwork, and social skills development in a natural, engaging environment.
  • Collaborate with SENCO and Support Staff: Work closely with the SENCO, therapists, and other support staff to ensure each child's physical and emotional well-being.
  • Build Strong Relationships with Students: Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them achieve their personal and developmental goals.
  • Ensure Safety and Well-being: Ensure safety at all times during outdoor activities, following the school's policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Experience Working with Children: Experience working with children, ideally in a SEN setting or with a background in sports, physical education, or outdoor activities.
  • Passion for Outdoor Learning: A passion for outdoor learning and the ability to engage students in a non-traditional educational setting.
