We are in search of a dependable and passionate individual to join our skilled Kitchen brigade at the exclusive Grand Central Hotel.

Under the expert guidance of our Executive Head Chef, Damian Tumilty, you will have the chance to collaborate with our welcoming team, enhance your culinary skills, and relish the diverse experiences that a career in hospitality offers. In our renowned Seahorse Restaurant, you will participate in crafting our exquisite eight-course tasting menu. The ideal candidate can anticipate a work schedule of 45 hours per week (excluding breaks), comprising five shifts out of seven, including weekends. Typical shift timings are from 11 am to 7 pm and 12 pm to 10 pm.

The remuneration for this full-time role is £29,000 annually.

Role Responsibilities

To assist in overseeing the kitchen operations to ensure that Hastings standards of food preparation and presentation are upheld.

1. To aid in the effective management of kitchen personnel, ensuring smooth kitchen operations.

2. To foster and contribute to a positive working atmosphere where all staff are treated with respect and dignity.

3. To guarantee that quality standards and procedures are thoroughly understood and adhered to, with daily checks implemented.

4. To ensure compliance with company policies regarding stock management and ordering.

5. To provide the junior kitchen team with appropriate training and mentorship to deliver effective and efficient service in alignment with Hastings standards.

6. To ensure that the junior kitchen team adheres to Hastings standards, providing constructive feedback to ensure quality service.

7. To maintain effective communication and relationships with other hotel departments and suppliers to ensure operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.

8. To ensure the security of kitchen and storage areas is upheld.

9. To ensure that kitchen areas, fixtures, and equipment are properly maintained.

10. To uphold a safe working environment in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene, and security regulations and company policies.

11. To perform any additional duties as required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE Standard or equivalent, including English and Maths.

Required Qualifications

  • Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
  • Previous experience at a similar level in a high-quality catering operation.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Food Preparation and Cooking, along with a recognized current Food Hygiene Certificate.
