Fire Captain

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Fire Chief to join our team at the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs. As a key member of our management team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of efficient and effective programs and services.

• Provide administrative, operational, and leadership support to the Fire and Rescue and Training Divisions.
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all fire suppression and staff activities.
• Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to augment corporate and departmental objectives.
• Liaise with various agencies, municipalities, and authorities to maintain harmonious relationships.
• Oversee the development of pre-incident plans for target risks and hazards in the community.
• Assume command of emergency scenes and represent the City at various meetings.

• University degree in Business, Public Administration, Sciences, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of four years of experience in a fire service operations environment.
• Completed Community Emergency Management Coordinator designation (CEMC) or willingness to obtain within one year.
• IMS 200, IMS 300, NFPA 1021 Level III, and NFPA 1041 Level II certifications.
• Supervisory/managerial experience in a unionized environment.
• Command experience with complex emergency scenes.
