The RoleWe're seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team and take ownership of the commercial management of key contracts. This is a hands-on role where you'll be part of the commercial team that will help deliver the growth strategy for the business.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure projects meet commercial and financial targets, including payment terms and contract management.
- Contribute to regular and accurate reporting to key stakeholders, including CVRs and cash flow updates.
- Assist in and carry out valuations for initial, interim, and final payment applications.
- Monitor payments for subcontractor and supplier accounts, ensuring alignment with agreed subcontracts and upstream contractual requirements.
- Identify and notify value and agree changes, flagging potential impacts on cost and gross profit.
- Work with the Commercial Contract Manager to maximize recovery of contractual entitlements.
- Attend monthly project review and CVR meetings with Project Managers.
- Assist in the timely and complete handover of projects to the Design and Construction teams.
- Lead and participate in the creation and adjustment of processes, documentation, and working templates, ensuring effective rollout for future projects.
- A proven track record of building strong relationships with internal and external clients and supplier counterparts.
- Experience in managing project budgets, profit, and loss, and providing regular commercial forecasts.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to use initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- A proven track record of effectively managing contracts and tenders.
- Ability to work with multiple teams simultaneously.
- Understanding of the project life cycle from ownership to completion.
- Ability to track delivery against contracted scope of works.
- Experience with NEC and JCT contracts and their workings.
- Technical or commercial degree, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years in a similar role with similar responsibilities.
- Technical understanding of project delivery and pricing within MV/HV works.
- Proficiency in Productivity and Collaboration Software, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
