Reed is seeking an experienced Building Control Team Manager to lead our team in ensuring compliance with statutory requirements regarding accessibility, quality, safety, and environmental efficiency in Leicester.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and develop a team of approximately 8 council employees, supervising matrix-managed staff and those temporarily deployed for projects.
- Provide clear direction and effective people and performance management by setting objectives, agreeing outcomes, and holding individuals and teams accountable.
- Plan and lead the team's response to high-risk emergency incidents and complex applications for Building Control.
- Offer specialist advice on building regulation matters to team members, other officers, external agencies, and court.
- Manage the budget, including monitoring income and expenditure, authorising payments, and ensuring competitiveness within the market.
- Extensive experience in a relevant Building Control environment.
- Proven experience in effective management of staff and resources.
- In-depth knowledge of the Building Act and Building Regulations.
- Ability to work outside normal office hours and participate in an emergency rota.
- Highly Competitive day or hourly rate.
- The chance to lead and develop a team dedicated to maintaining high standards in building control.
