Our facility is recognized for its commitment to quality, holding UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189:2012 and being an approved training site by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).
As part of the Microbiology team, you will contribute to delivering exceptional services while embodying our core values of compassion, bravery, and respect.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will undertake the role of a Clinical Microbiology Scientist, executing a variety of microbiological procedures essential for the clinical assessment of infectious diseases. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine and specialized tests in line with established protocols.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Participating in a 24/7 shift schedule, which may involve independent work.
- Identifying and analyzing atypical results.
- Responding to inquiries and advising on sample suitability and testing requests.
- Addressing issues within your scope and escalating to supervisors when necessary.
- Overseeing Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants, assigning tasks as needed.
- Adhering to safety regulations and promptly addressing potential hazards.
- Upholding confidentiality at all times.

Personal Specifications
Essential Criteria
- A degree in Biomedical Sciences accredited by the IBMS.
- Previous experience in an NHS laboratory setting.

- Registration portfolio with the IBMS.
- HCPC registration.
