Project Controls Manager

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Project Controls Manager to manage the project controls team across the entire programme for a high-profile client across the UK as part of our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Controls Manager with a proven track record in robust cost and schedule management to take on a complex programme of works for a high-profile client.

As a key member of the project leadership team, you will be responsible for all aspects of cost and schedule reporting and management, ensuring the client and project leadership team are kept informed at all stages.

You will be working closely with the Project Director and project management community, interfacing with engineering and technical communities, and interacting with key senior stakeholders across the Consulting business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of 12 Project Controls personnel
  • Responsible for all aspects of cost and schedule reporting and management
  • Interface management with engineering and technical communities
  • Interact with key senior stakeholders across the Consulting business
  • Collaborate with the Project Director and project management community

Requirements
  • Previous significant experience in a PCM position across a demanding portfolio
  • Proven record in delivering against tight cost budgets and schedules
  • Background in Cost Control is ideal or Planning with an excellent understanding of cost management
  • Significant experience and capability in management of contracts, budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling, and management of change
  • An appreciation of Lean tools, management, and techniques
  • The ability to work in a highly structured manner, adapting to the financial reporting calendar
  • The leadership skills to ensure the project controls and management teams are aligned to understanding the in-period, in-year, and lifecycle status of their projects
  • The ability to coach, train, and influence the project community, as needed
  • The ability to work under pressure and achieve tight timelines
  • Teambuilding attributes, with the ability to celebrate success and promote key talent
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Previous experience leading a team
  • Good mentoring skills: teaches, coaches, and mentors to help assure individual and team success as well as develop the next generation
  • Excellent client service focus
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Typically requires ISCED level 6 (Bachelors) Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through relevant vocational training and/or industry experience)
