Job Description

Overview:

The Enterprise Architect will report into the Director of Customer Solution Architecture and will be responsible for evaluating Informa business needs and determining how digital technology can support those needs by leveraging software, infrastructure, and hardware. Architects will foster collaboration across various teams and stakeholders, both within Informa and with external partners. Our mantra is "communication, collaboration, and clarity" to deliver on Informa's key goals and strategic objectives.

The solution architect needs to consider a view beyond the short term and understand that the solution will need to adapt and evolve to future needs. Solution architecture is a team effort, and the individual architects need to bring together different delivery and technology pieces to help solve pressing business problems.

Solutions architects at Informa need to have a balanced mix of skills covering general technology, specific industry knowledge, communication, stakeholder management, technical leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Solution Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and develop innovative technology solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and industry best practices.
  • Architectural Design: Own the design and development of enterprise-level technology solutions and systems that align with business objectives, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Technology Strategy: Develop and maintain the overall technology roadmap and architecture framework, ensuring it aligns with business strategy and supports the company's growth objectives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with key stakeholders, including business leaders, product managers, and development teams, to understand their requirements, provide guidance, and ensure effective implementation of architectural solutions.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks and challenges associated with technology implementations, providing recommendations and mitigation strategies to ensure a secure and stable environment.
  • Standards and Best Practices: Establish and promote technology standards, methodologies, and best practices across the organization, fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Industry Trends and Innovation: Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, evaluating their potential impact on Informa Tech's business and providing recommendations for adoption.
  • Advocacy: Proactively contribute to the development of the Architecture community and be an ambassador for Architecture. Interact with stakeholders on architecture issues and strategic improvements where such expertise is required.

You will apply processes that have been proven to reduce time, cost, and risk of implementing complex solutions.

  • Research technology, tools, and development workflows to determine the best fit based on business requirements and technical needs.
  • Design, integrate, and assist with enhancements to various systems and application software as required.
  • Support and aid in the maintenance of platforms and applications, ensuring the creation of operational documentation, platform visualizations, version control workflows, code rollout & release plans, deployment guides, change management adherence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders, analysts, designers, data services, product owners, and development teams to deliver on timelines and major objectives.
  • Participate in code reviews, software peer reviews, and meetings with other developers.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • We need candidates to already bring with them experience of being a Solutions Architect in a similar-sized organization due to the complexity of Informa's Technology landscape.
  • Ability to engage in low-level software engineering conversations to assist in code-level design choices where required.
  • Significant breadth in experience with technologies: version control systems, relational & noSQL databases, caching, serverless & event-driven architectures, web-development, JavaScript, and React.
  • Experience in implementing automated deployment & test tools.

Qualifications:

Specific qualifications are not required, however, certifications from major Cloud providers and those related to Agile delivery are welcomed as demonstrations of proficiency.
