About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at AJ Residential Care Ltd. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our service users with severe learning disabilities and associated complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and sustain effective working relationships with service users, colleagues, and other agencies to promote collaborative working and partnerships.
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with organisational Health and Safety Policies.
  • Establish, sustain, and disengage from relationships with service users and their families, offering unconditional and positive regard.
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for service users and their families.
  • Promote people's equality, diversity, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the promotion of individuals' health and social well-being, assisting individuals to maintain a positive sense of self and identity.
  • Assess individuals' needs and circumstances and develop, provide, and review care programmes.
  • Enable and support service users to participate in recreation and leisure activities.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with young adults with a learning disability in a residential setting.
  • Experience of care work.
  • Experience of working proactively with service users who challenge.
  • Health and social work qualification at level three or willingness to work towards.
  • Ability to effectively engage, sustain, and disengage with service users and their families.
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships between workers, the local community, and other agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide for the day-to-day care needs of service users.
Working Arrangements

This post requires the holder to do varying shifts, including early morning, late evening work, and night duty as part of a rota system. You may be requested to change your rota at short notice to ensure the contingencies of the service are covered.

This post requires the holder to have a clear DBS at all times; changes to personal circumstances that may affect this must be notified to your line manager immediately.
