Job Description

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to support a child in Year 5 with behavioural challenges and ADHD in a primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised support to the pupil to promote their engagement with education.
  • Contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages the pupil to thrive.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement a tailored behaviour plan.
  • Support the development of social skills and effective emotional management.
  • Foster a positive relationship with the pupil, promoting their well-being and building trust.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, external agencies, and the wider school community to ensure seamless support for the pupil.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with pupils who have challenging behaviour or have been excluded from mainstream schools is desirable.
  • A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with pupils.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with pupils facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of the pupils.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
