Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Product Stewardship is responsible for spearheading the establishment, evolution, and execution of the Product Stewardship program. This role entails providing strategic vision and leadership, as well as defining robust governance structures, roles, responsibilities, and operational routines.

Act as the primary reference for Product Stewardship within the organization as required.

Oversee, assess, and communicate global chemical management regulations that influence the Imerys product portfolio. Drive the integration of regulatory mandates that span across various Imerys Business Areas.

SCOPE OF THE ROLE

  • Product Regulatory Awareness: Maintain awareness and facilitate communication regarding current and emerging chemical management regulations, along with their implementation protocols and data requirements, affecting Imerys products across all regions and applications.
  • Chemical Management Adherence: Ensure that the Imerys Product Stewardship organization comprehends and meets its compliance obligations concerning chemical management regulations that are applicable across the company's Business Areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and uphold effective governance of product stewardship through the Product Stewardship Governance Committee.
  • Develop and continuously update a comprehensive register of significant chemical management regulations that impact or could potentially impact the Imerys product portfolio across various regions and applications.
  • Proactively monitor and analyze the implications of global chemical management regulations, communicating potential impacts to key internal stakeholders (Product Managers, BA SVPs, S&T Leaders, Commercial Leaders) well ahead of their enforcement.
  • Provide regular insights on emerging regulations to the Product Stewardship community.
  • Guide Product Stewardship Directors and Managers in crafting and executing regulatory strategies that support their Business Area activities to mitigate risks and promote business continuity and growth.
  • Coordinate with local Product Stewardship Directors and their teams on global chemical compliance initiatives (registrations, notifications, exemptions) for both new and existing substances.
  • Serve as the organization’s global authority on chemical management regulations with broad implications, such as EU REACH and other similar emerging regulations (Korea, Turkey, Taiwan, etc.).
  • Lead or assist in key Product Stewardship functional excellence projects aimed at embedding best practices throughout the organization by leveraging effective processes, systems, policies, and tools.
  • Support the Global Product Stewardship Director and regional Product Stewardship Directors in resource allocation and budget planning to effectively implement regulations for individual Business Areas and at the corporate level.
  • Engage in external industry association Technical Boards, Working Groups, and Committees as appropriate, where expertise can be effectively utilized for both Industry and Imerys impact.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Degree, Master’s, or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • 15+ years of professional experience in a pertinent technical field.
  • Background in Toxicology/Regulatory Compliance, R&D Chemistry, or Engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, and Leadership Competencies

  • Experienced technical expert with significant product stewardship and/or regulatory experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical management regulations affecting global markets and regions.
  • Familiarity with systems and tools that facilitate product regulatory compliance.
  • Proven management, leadership, and coordination capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective internal and external engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results with urgency in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability in rapidly changing situations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Imerys products and markets, along with solid business acumen.
