Senior Track Systems Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Track Systems Technician to join our Track Systems team at Formula One. This role involves the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of our Standard Communication System, which provides telemetry, onboard video, and car data to clients.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Deploy, commission, and decommission radio frequency installations around Grand Prix circuits, enabling a path for radio communication between on-car systems and receivers connected to trackside sites.
  • Work at heights up to 5m using climbing safety harness.
  • Install fibre optic and electrical cables and electronic and RF equipment.
  • Operate light machinery and tools.
  • Perform electrical and radio frequency wiring and termination.
  • Inspect, test, and fault-find optical, electrical, and electronic systems, including operation of necessary tools and measurement equipment.
  • Operate bespoke software applications to initiate, log, and monitor race and test sessions from the Media and Technology Centre or from the Event Technical Centre.
  • Analyze and fault-find system data and results.
  • Perform technical and mechanical maintenance and repair of fibre optic cable, radio frequency equipment, and tools.
  • Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling.
  • Provide guidance, advice, and feedback, acting as a mentor for Technicians.
  • Plan and liaise with other departments for systems installation.
  • Maintain equipment lists and keep manifests updated.
About You:
  • Hold a Higher National Diploma (HND), Higher National Certificate (HNC), NVQ Level 4, Foundation Degree, Diploma of Higher Education, or Vocational Qualification Level 5 in an engineering-related field (Electronic, Electrical, and RF Comms) or have equivalent experience.
  • Have experience in a manual role, such as installation or rigging.
  • Be able to work in a busy and challenging environment to achieve specific objectives.
  • Be an effective team player.
  • Be able to read, understand, and work to technical drawings.
  • Have a working knowledge of MS Windows-based applications/systems.
  • Have a basic knowledge of computer networks.
  • Be comfortable working at heights.
  • Be able to learn new technical systems.
  • Have a systematic approach to fault-finding.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Be able to work unsupervised.
  • Have demonstrated ability to work as part of an effective team.
  • Have excellent organisation and time management skills, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
