Pastoral Tutor Job Description

At National Skills Agency, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Tutor to join our team. As a Pastoral Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal development of our learners.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and facilitate tutorial sessions to promote learners' broader skills and knowledge.
  • Provide pastoral support to learners, including monitoring attendance, engagement, and achievement.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure tutorial input reflects the curriculum area and addresses academic targets or concerns.
  • Support learners with their progression, including internal and external progression, and the UCAS process for Level 3 students.
  • Represent the student and company at internal and external meetings relating to students in their caseload.
Requirements:
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (Previously PTLLS) or working towards.
  • Appropriate safeguarding and mental health first aid training to support young people.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and form positive working relationships with young people.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and establish effective working relationships both internal and external.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Proficient IT skills to use MS Office software and IT databases and student record software packages.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Organised with the ability to prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of the Personal Development elements of the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework.
  • Working knowledge of the DfE requirements of Study Programmes and particularly the tutorial element.
