About the Role

The Senior Architectural Design Officer will be responsible for delivering a full architectural design and contract administration service within the Public Buildings – Design Team. This team provides architectural, quantity surveying, and clerks of works inspection services to deliver construction works carried out on public buildings for the City Council.

The post holder will work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely with a diverse range of individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and manage simultaneous projects from inception to completion.
  • Carry out site visits, surveys, and inspections, and chair meetings.
  • Have extensive knowledge of and proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software packages such as NBS Chorus and Microsoft Office.
  • Use analytical skills to process complex information and produce creative solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with Scottish Building Standards, Construction Design and Management Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act, and other general health and safety legislation.
  • Be familiar with current standard forms of building contracts.
  • Take an active role in Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Travel to locations around the city to meet the requirements of the role.
